New Features in Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Wave 1 Release Part 3 – Financial Enhancements
The Dynamics 365 Businses Central 2022 Wave 1 Release has a lot of new and exciting features to help your accounting and finance team manage schedules, create reports, and track the cash flow of your company.
Export and Import Account Schedules
Feature Highlight:
This feature allows accounting and finance to easily reuse Account Schedules between Business Central companies, through a file downloaded to your computer. This allows for consistent financial reporting between companies, when a tenant is initially being set up, or if there is a change in the report structure.
Users can choose to Export the Account Schedule, with the Default Column Layout, and import it back in, all through the Account Schedules page. During the import, users are given the option to rename both the Account Schedule name and Column Layout name. Previously, a Configuration Package or manual copy and paste would be used to move account schedules from one Business Central company to another.
How to Export the Account Schedule:
- Navigate to the Account Schedules
- Select the Account Schedule you want to Export.
- Select Process -> Export Account Schedule.
- A RapidStart file is downloaded to your computer.
How to Import the Account Schedule:
- From the Account Schedules
- Select Process -> Import Account Schedule.
- Choose the RapidStart file that was downloaded to your computer.
- Update New Account Schedule Name and New Column Layout Name, if required.
- Select OK. A message appears to show that the Import was processed, and the New Account Schedule with Default Column will appear within the Account Schedule list.
Jobs: Sell-to / Bill-to / Ship-to Options
Feature Highlight:
This feature allows for Project Managers to set up jobs, where the Sell-to Customer may not be the company paying the bill or have the same address as the site where the work is done.
This new feature also adds fields to the job card that are already seen within the Sales module – such as External Document No., Payment Terms Code, and Payment Method Code – that will flow to the Sales Invoices created from the Job.
Where to See:
When you create a new Job Card, you will see new fields appearing everywhere
- General FastTab:
- Sell-to fields
- External Document No.
- Your Reference
- Invoice and Shipping FastTab
- Bill-to fields
- Payment Terms Code
- Payment Method Code
- Ship-to fields
Below is a Sales Invoice created from the Job. Sell-to, Ship-to, and Bill-to information is carried over.
Bank Deposits
Feature Highlight:
Bank Deposits have been replaced Deposits with several new improvements. When you create a new Bank Deposit, the number series now assigns the Bank Deposit number (without the pop-up asking for the user to choose the General Journal Batch.)
There is an option in the header to allow users to Post as Lump Sum.
You also will see in the footer a summation of Total Deposit Lines – which can be helpful in keeping track of all the deposit lines as they are being keyed in.
How to set up Post as Lump Sum by Default:
- If you want the system to always post Bank Deposits as a lump sum by default, go to the Sales & Receivables Setup page, and enable the Post Bank Deposits as Lump Sum toggle. The Sales & Receivables Setup page is also where you can set up the Bank Deposit No. series.
