Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Wave 1 Release

There are many new features in the Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Wave 1 Release to get excited about!

In part 1 of this series, we focused on Check Journals and Entries.

In this second part, we wanted to inform you about some new Business Central (BC) and Customer Engagement (CE) integration functionalities and exciting ease-of-use benefits.

Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Wave 1 Release: Map to Dataverse Option Sets

Feature Highlights:

As BC and CE integrations are growing in popularity, many implementations have resulted in the same customization. In the wave 1 release, Microsoft has incorporated some of that frequent customization into the out-of-the-box connector.

In the Integration Table Mappings, you now have the option to map Payment Terms, Freight Terms, Shipping Methods, and Shipping Agents with the same functionality you have had for existing fields such as contacts, customers, and items.

New options for bidirectional synchronization between BC and CE allow more clients to use the connector without requiring custom code.

Setup:

This feature must be enabled in Feature Management. After the new option sets are enabled, the setup is done the same way in the Integration Table Mappings as in existing integrations. One of the perks of this feature update is that the new fields do not necessitate new setups outside of the connector.

Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Wave 1 Release: Sync Sales Orders between BC and Sales

Feature Highlights:

This feature allows bidirectional synchronization of sales orders between Business Central and Sales in a new manner. Any updates made to the prices, quantities, expected shipment dates, etc. on a sales order are updated in each direction. This provides more visibility for sellers.

One note:

Existing methods of creating a sales order in BC from Sales currently set up on the 364 Sales Order page are mutually exclusive with the new feature.

Setup:

This feature must be enabled in Feature Management and enabled on the Connections Setup page. When configuring the integration table mappings, you will then be able to configure new mappings for sales order headers and lines.

Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Wave 1 Release: Release and Reopen Multiple Docs

Feature Highlights:

This is a simple feature that will improve ease of use, particularly for end-users that tend to bulk process documents and requires no setup from you! When releasing documents, “select more” will enable you to release or reopen multiple documents at once. Business Central will give a popup prompt informing the user of how many documents are selected for processing and if any will be skipped. Any errors are shown directly on the Error Messages page.

Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Wave 1 Release: Default Permission Sets and User Groups by License Type

Feature Highlights:

This feature allows you to use a default permission set and assign user groups by license type. For example, you can bring in Business Premium vs Essential with different default permission sets and/or user groups.

How to:

Navigate to the new License Configuration page. You will then be able to switch on “Customize permissions” and configure defaults.

Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Wave 1 Release: Default Dimensions by Location

Feature Highlights:

This is another simple feature that does not require unfamiliar navigation. On location cards, you will navigate to default dimensions as you would on other cards and can set these by location. Being able to set this default by location is a small change that can greatly improve user experience.
