Windows 8 Phone Resources
I've been thoroughly enjoying my new Windows 8 phone, and I wanted to take a minute to share some good resources I've found on these phones. First, this comparison chart from WPCentral differentiates the features between the phones available today.
One thing the chart doesn't show is which carrier provides which Windows phone. I switched from Sprint to Verizon, and with Verizon there were two options -> HTC 8x and the Lumia 822 (which has the same specs as the Lumia 820 listed above).
Windows Phone | Verizon | AT&T | T-Mobile | Sprint |
---|---|---|---|---|
HTC 8x | X | X | X | |
HTC 8S | No U.S. Carrier Support at present | |||
Nokia Lumia 920 | X | |||
Nokia Lumia 820/822 | 822 | 820 | ||
Samsung ATIV S | No U.S. Carrier Support at present |
So what did I choose? I went with the HTC 8x, and I've been very happy. It's so much lighter than my previous HTC Arrive from Sprint, I barely feel it in my pocket. The cell network on Verizon is so much better than Sprint too - upgrading from 3G to 4G makes all of the web response times much snappier.
One cool feature I didn't realize right away is that you can use the HTC 8x as a hotspot. You can connect up to 8 guests through your phones data plan. This way I don't have to buy a separate wifi hotspot for when I'm on the go. All in all this phone has just about any feature I'd want, plus it's light, has a good camera and it's on the best network. Not much to complain about here.
