Silvi Materials Builds a Scalable Future with Microsoft Dynamics 365
Supporting a complex, asset-heavy business with a unified Microsoft platform built for growth
Silvi Materials is one of the most progressive construction materials suppliers in the United States, with a fully integrated business that includes sand and rock quarries, ready-mix concrete manufacturing, and a privately owned deepwater marine terminal for receiving and distributing cement, slag, gypsum, and road salt. With operations across Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio — and continued expansion through acquisitions — Silvi’s business extends well beyond traditional ready-mix operations.
As a third generation, privately owned organization, Silvi places a strong emphasis on long-term growth, operational excellence, and continuity for future generations. To support that vision, Silvi recognized the need to modernize its core business systems, moving away from highly customized legacy platforms toward a scalable, data driven foundation that could support growth, improve visibility, and prepare the organization for future innovation.
Silvi partnered with Stoneridge Software to help design and implement a modern Microsoft based ERP and data platform capable of supporting the scale and complexity of its operations while aligning with its long-term business strategy.
According to Frank Flatch, Chief Administrative Officer at Silvi, “As we grow, we want to make it easier for our people to do their best work. By modernizing our ERP footprint to align our processes and connect information across our various platforms, we can work together more effectively, make informed decisions, and reduce unnecessary complexity.”
Business Challenges: Modernizing Systems to Match Business Complexity
Over time, Silvi’s business had grown significantly in both scale and complexity, while its core systems remained rooted in technology that was no longer designed to support that level of integration or growth. Although those systems had served the organization for many years, they had become increasingly difficult to maintain, integrate, and evolve.
Leadership recognized that continuing to rely on aging platforms would limit visibility across the business, slow decision-making, and introduce risk, particularly as Silvi expanded operations and acquired new entities.
Key challenges included:
- Legacy ERP systems that had been in place for nearly two decades, with extensive customization and increasing maintenance overhead
- Complex data structures, with information spread across multiple systems, vendors, and business units
- Numerous system integrations, including Salesforce and specialized operational solutions, required to support Silvi’s diverse operating model
- Inconsistent purchasing and operational processes across locations, impacting efficiency and clarity
- Limited documentation of business processes, increasing reliance on institutional knowledge
- Data migration complexity, driven by aging systems and years of structural changes to underlying data
- A need to support ongoing growth and acquisitions without repeatedly reworking core systems
“Modernization became necessary because our growth had outpaced our legacy systems, we needed a unified platform that could standardize processes, connect data, and give our teams the visibility required to scale efficiently.”
– Jeff Davis, SVP of Logistics and IT, Silvi
Recommended Solution: A Unified Microsoft Platform Designed for Scale
Stoneridge worked in close partnership with Silvi to design a solution that addressed both immediate modernization needs and long-term scalability. The focus was on creating a unified ERP and data foundation using Microsoft technology, one that could integrate Silvi’s existing systems while introducing greater consistency, visibility, and control.
Rather than forcing a one size fits all approach, the solution balanced standardization with flexibility, allowing Silvi to retain specialized operational tools while benefiting from a centralized platform.
Solution Highlights

- Large-scale materials and logistics operations
- Future acquisitions and geographic expansion
- Prepared the organization for future initiatives, including enhanced reporting, asset management, and AI‑enabled insights with Microsoft Copilot
“Silvi’s business required more than a standard ERP implementation. The ready-mix industry uses very specific platforms in areas such as batch and dispatch systems. We worked closely with their team to understand how their ready-mix, materials, and logistics operations connect,” says Stoneridge Senior Sales Executive Duane Napier. “That collaboration allowed us to work together to design an architecture specific to Silvi, one that is industry-relevant and has the flexibility to support future growth.”
Results: A Strong Digital Foundation for the Future
With its new Microsoft based ERP platform in place, Silvi has established a modern digital foundation designed to support both current operations and future growth. While additional phases of innovation are planned, the organization now operates with greater confidence in its systems, data, and ability to scale.
Key outcomes include:
- A centralized ERP environment replacing fragmented legacy systems
- A unified data foundation supporting improved visibility and reporting across the organization
- Greater consistency in purchasing and operational processes across locations
- Documented business workflows, reducing risk and dependency on institutional knowledge
- A scalable architecture already supporting new business units and acquisitions
- Readiness for future innovation, including automation, advanced analytics, and AI driven insights
“We set out on our ERP journey to achieve an integrated suite of business applications, while establishing shared process and data models. D365 F&O has advanced our people, process, and technology framework through expanded automation capabilities, standardized procedures, reduced manual activities, and greater insights.
We are confident that we have the right foundation for the future, that being a modern, scalable platform that can evolve with our business, support innovation, and drive enhanced decision making.”
– Ryan Rahey, VP of IT, Silvi
