What To Do When World Wide Web Service Stops after running a BUILD in Visual Studio on DEV Box
It is normal for World Wide Web Service to stop after you start or run a BUILD in Visual Studio on DEV Box in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.
It is normal for this to happen, and when you start or run a BUILD with Visual Studio, IIS stops and IISExpress is started as development is set by default against IISExpress. This can mean, however, that you need to manually restart World Wide Web Service, which can be a tedious process if you want IIS as your preferred service.
Follow These Steps To Set IIS as Default to Keep World Wide Web Service From Stopping
Luckily, there is a solution you can use that dismisses the need to restart the service and can save you time. All you have to do is follow these simple steps:
- On your DEV box, go to K:\AOSservice\PackageLocalDirectory\bin folder.
- Look for the file called DynamicsDevConfig.xml and make a copy of the file (this is your backup).
- Edit the file and change RuntimeHostType from IISExpress to IIS.
- Save your change.
- Close out of Visual Studio if it is open and relaunch Visual Studio.
- Try running a compile again in Visual Studio.
If you follow these steps, your World Wide Web Service should stay running after your compile is done.
