Big Changes to Copilot Licenses Impacting Dynamics 365
Discover New Value for Sales, Service, Finance and Supply Chain
Microsoft has announced significant updates regarding Copilot licenses, effective October 10, and what these changes mean for your organization, especially those utilizing Copilot for Sales, Service, and Finance.
Copilot License Impact Summary
Here’s what we detail in this blog that you need to know.
- Copilot for Sales, Service, and Finance SKU’s will now be accessible with the Copilot for Microsoft 365 license priced at $30 per user, per month (availability has been only available with $20 add on license)
- Stoneridge has Flight Schools for quick start configuration, training and adoption across all Copilot SKU’s
- Microsoft is launching 2 licensing promotions to start and scale Copilot.
Understanding the Big Change
Let’s start with the headline news: Copilot for Sales, Service, and Finance SKU’s will now be accessible with the Copilot for Microsoft 365 license priced at $30 per user, per month. This means that the days of a separate Dynamics 365 Copilot SKU costing an additional $20 per user are coming to an end. For existing customers, this is a pivotal shift that brings simplicity, clarity, and potentially significant cost savings.
What’s Changing?
Previously, organizations had to purchase an additional Copilot license for specialized workloads like Sales, Service, or Finance. With the new model, organizations using Copilot for M365 can access these advanced functions without juggling multiple SKUs or incurring extra costs.
- Single License Access: All specialized Copilot modules including Sales, Service, Finance are now included in the main Copilot for M365 license.
- Cost Efficiency: The $50/user SKU is discontinued ($20 step up SKU), eliminating the need for redundant payments.
- Agent flows, AI Tools and deep reasoning from Copilot Studio is now included with the Microsoft 365 license
- Copilot Messages is being renamed to Copilot Credits, these will be charged when agents are used by unlicensed Copilot users, or non-employee facing scenarios.
- There will be two Copilot experiences, Lite and Full:
- Choose the lite experience(formerly agent builder) if you want to quickly create an agent for yourself or a small team, using natural language and existing content (for example, a bot that answers questions from your team’s SharePoint files or emails). The lite version is simple, accessible, and integrated with the Microsoft 365 Copilot experience, so you can build agents in context without any code.
- Choose the full experienceif you need an agent for a broader audience (such as your whole department, organization, or external customers) or if the agent requires advanced capabilities like multi-step workflows or custom integrations, or you need more control over deployment and management. The full version of Copilot Studio is a standalone web portal with a rich set of tools for complex or scalable solutions.
Why This Matters for Your Organization
These license updates are more than a pricing change; they represent a mindset shift towards integration and user empowerment. Now all your Microsoft products can communicate with each other and will have a unified service to bring your data from CRM with your Teams meetings and all your files together to increase your organizations productivity. The following outlines the features available with Dynamics 365 Sales alone, as well as the functionality when Microsoft 365 Copilot is integrated with Dynamics 365.
Dynamics 365 Sales & Copilot Capabilities Overview
Here are a couple of other reasons why this change matters:
- Realize More Value: With all Copilot capabilities under one license, users can seamlessly transition between workflows in Sales, Service, and Finance, maximizing collaboration and data-driven decision-making.
- Encourage Adoption: Removing barriers to entry means more teams can access Copilot’s features, promoting innovation and digital literacy across your enterprise.
- Focus on Outcomes: By simplifying licensing and using Copilot agents, organizations can redirect focus from administrative tasks to business outcomes, whether that’s closing more deals, improving customer service, or optimizing financial planning.
