Dream Girl Box Wins 2018 Spark Your Startup Barnesville Business Pitch

The fifth annual ‘Spark Your Startup’ Business Pitch contest held in Barnesville, MN, has awarded three winners. First place and $1,500 was awarded to Dream Girl Box. Dream Girl Box also earned $250 for gathering the most votes by the public in People's Choice category. The Dream Girl Box is a Subscription Box for Girls With Goals. The monthly box offers inspirational content and products for girls of all ages. The Dream Girl box focuses on inner beauty, goal setting, self-care, and empowerment. Second place and $500 was presented to Golden Path Solutions. Golden Path provides an innovative, scalable solution that gives high school students great insight into their skills and ideal career path and gives employers a way to connect with raw talent and build their ideal workforce for the future.

Dream Girl Box also receives several in-kind prize donations and is eligible for a $10,000 forgivable loan from the Barnesville Economic Development Authority, if they choose to open a business within the city by March 1, 2019. Business pitch participants were not required to be from Barnesville or open a business there.

All entries are the in the pre-revenue stage of business and filled out an online application to enter the contest. Applicants were evaluated and narrowed down to the top entries. On Wednesday, Oct. 10, these business startups made their pitch in front of a panel of contest sponsor judges at the Stoneridge Software office in Barnesville. Each startup had five minutes to give their presentation, and judges had four minutes to ask questions, then questions were opened up to the audience.

Barnesville Business Pitch sponsors are Stoneridge Software, Dean’s Bulk Service, Midwest Bank, West Central Initiative, Barnesville Economic Development Authority and the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation.
