Dynamics AX Software Update Checklist Shows Upgrade Script History Job Details Form and Will Not Complete

By Jackie Olson | January 26, 2016

I recently installed a Dynamics AX 2012 R3 application hotfix. I restarted the AOS then the launch AX client as usual. Next I proceeded with the steps listed in the Software update checklist form. Each time a step is completed, Dynamics AX will put a green check mark by that step and allow you to move on to the next step. But when I ran the Presynchronize step, this step just presented me with the Upgrade script history form and would not complete. So, no green check mark and I can’t get to the next step. In the Upgrade script history form, I noticed all the records listed had the Start time and date from when the customer upgraded their AX system. In this case, the customer Upgraded from Dynamics AX 2012 to Dynamics AX 2012 R3 CU9.

In order to get this step to complete, I ran the following commands in SQL against the AX data database:

  1. Delete RELEASEUPDATESCRIPTSHISTORY where SCRIPTSTAGE = 16
  2. Then I re-ran the Presynchronize step. It completed and allowed me to go to the next step.

I also ran into the same issue when running the Launch data upgrade, Upgrade additional features steps.

  1. To get the Launch data upgrade step to complete, I deleted records with SCRIPTSTAGE = 17 in the above table, then re-run the Launch data upgrade.
  2. To get the Upgrade additional features step to complete, I deleted records with SCRIPTSTAGE = 18 in the above table, then re-run the Launch data upgrade.
