Effortless Data Entry Using the Copilot Form Fill Assistance Feature in Model-Driven Apps
Dynamics 365 forms with the Copilot form fill assistance feature is designed to streamline your data entry process, saving you time and reducing errors. Whether you're new to Dynamics 365 or looking to enhance your productivity, this blog and accompanying video will guide you through the steps to enable and use this powerful tool.
What is Copilot form fill assistance?
In Dynamics 365 forms, users receive AI generated suggestions for fields in the main and quick create forms of the model-driven apps. Copilot will use information from frequently used data, Smart Paste data copied text, or Files uploaded, making your workflow smoother and more efficient.
Enabling Form Fill Assistance
- Browse to the Power Platform Admin Center
(https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com) - Click Manage
- Click the link to open your Environment
- Click Settings
- Under Product click Features
- Scroll down to the AI form fill assistance
- Set the Smart paste and file suggestions to On or Default
Note: In the monthly channel, if the Default option is selected, the feature is turned on for users of Dynamics 365 model-driven apps, and the feature is kept off for users of Power Apps model-driven apps.
Using the Smart Paste feature
- Log into your Dynamics Environment
- Click the Model-Driven App you want to use
- On the Left Side Navigation menu, click Contacts
- Click +New
- From a separate document copy text (CTRL+C) for a contact
NOTE: this data can be copied from simple text or a set of columns in a spreadsheet. In this example, I am copying the following text from a word document.
- Copilot will analyze the Clipboard Data and autofill the fields on the form
- To individually accept a specific field, hover over the blue highlighted field and click accept or cancel
- If you prefer to accept all the suggested fields, click the Accept # Suggestions button
Note: there are some limitations to the fields that can be auto populated. To get a summary of the Unsupported fields click the Field Info button
- Lastly, if you want to turn off the Form Fill Assist, click the Hide form fill assist button
- If you accidentally Hide the form fill assist, click the Show Form Fill Assist to turn it back on
