3 Wave 2 Release Features that Will Boost Your Dynamics 365 Sales Processes

By Jesse Bucholz | August 15, 2025

Microsoft is bringing in fresh updates and new features to Dynamics 365 Sales that will streamline your workflow, boost productivity, and make your seller and customer experiences more effective.

Whether you’re a seasoned seller or just getting started with D365 Sales, the 2025 Wave 2 Release is packed with smart enhancements that will let you work smarter, not harder.

Let’s take a look at some of the main features you can expect to come out in the coming months:

A Sleeker Command Bar: Navigation Gets a Makeover

Although there aren’t any massive updates or changes to the navigation bar, the new look will give you a more modern look that will maximize your screen real estate with a condensed menu. You can now find command bar functionalities – including create, delete, and visualize views – tucked neatly into the ellipsis menu on the right-hand side of the screen.

Here is a before and after:

D365 Sales Command Bar New

Why it matters:

  • Cleaner interface with less clutter
  • Same powerful tools, just smarter placement
  • Easier focus on what really matters—your data

It’s like moving your favorite snacks to a new shelf. They’re still there, just easier to grab when you need them.

Copilot-Powered Form Fill Assist: Data Entry, Reimagined

Creating records manually can be a very tedious process that takes your sellers away from focusing on their most valuable activities. In Wave 2, creating records is getting a serious upgrade with the new Copilot Form Fill Assist feature.

For example, instead of manually clicking on each field and inputting data, you can simply use this feature to upload a document, like a lead form, and have Copilot fill in the information automatically.

It automates and simplifies record creation through three intuitive options:

  1. Manual Upload – Drop in a file with contact info and let Copilot do the rest. To upload a file, you can just click on the up-facing arrow on the left side of the Copilot bar.

  2. Drag & Drop – Grab your lead form from wherever it is on your computer and simply drag it into the Copilot bar.

  3. Smart Paste – Copy data from Excel or Word and let Copilot suggest where it belongs. Tip: For efficiency, you can simply find the data you want to copy in Excel (Ctrl+C) and then just hit the Smart Paste button that is next to the document upload arrow.

Why it matters:

  • No more tedious typing
  • Lightning-fast record creation
  • Works across leads, contacts, accounts, and opportunities

It’s like having a personal assistant who never sleeps and always knows where your data should go.

Sales Qualification Agent: Your AI-Powered Deal Scout

What I consider to be the crown jewel of this release is the new Sales Qualification Agent. It helps you assess lead quality with AI-driven insights. If you have the proper licensing in place, you can access it by navigating to App Settings > Copilot > Sales Copilot.

App Settings Copilot area of Dynamics 365 Sales

Once you’re in the Copilot area, click on Agents and then Get Started to begin experimenting with the Sales Qualification Agent. Note: This feature is currently in preview and is slated for public release in October 2025. Now is a good time to test it and see what it can do for you.

Agents Get Started

From here, you can configure your agent’s settings, including who has access to it and what it is going to look for. Once configured, it evaluates leads based on your ideal customer profile—industry, company size, job titles, and custom criteria.

Sales Qualification Agent Configure Settings

After you configure it, it will appear in your top ribbon and start giving you smart suggestions. For example, say you open up a lead that you’ve been working on for a couple of weeks. The Sales Qualification Agent will be there and tell you that a lead may be worth pursuing and that it has already drafted a personalized email for you to send. You can click on “Review email” to go to the email and edit it before sending.

Review email

You can also click on “More insights” next to “Review email” to discover why the agent flagged this particular lead as a good sales opportunity.

Key insights into why Copilot flagged high opportunity lead

What it does:

  • Flags promising leads automatically
  • Drafts personalized emails for outreach
  • Provides business overviews and relevant articles
  • Suggests internal contacts for warm introductions

Why it matters:

  • Smarter lead prioritization
  • Faster engagement with high-potential prospects
  • More context, less guesswork

Think of it as your digital sales scout—always on the lookout for your next big win.
