Enabling Warehouse Selection for Procurement Categories on a Purchase Requisition in Dynamics AX 2012

By Adam Schneider | November 14, 2016

I recently had a situation where we were not able to enter a warehouse on a purchase requisition for a procurement category in Dynamics AX 2012. The warehouse field was not editable on the line and when going into the details section the field was grayed out. This was causing an issue as we were trying to get the correct warehouse address to populate on the requisition.

In order to resolve this problem, we found that on a storage dimension, any storage dimension, the Mandatory box under Warehouse specific setup needed to be checked. In our case, we didn’t want this box checked on our standard storage dimensions that we were using so we created a Do Not Use storage dimension and checked the box there. This allowed our storage dimensions used on our items to not be affected but still allowed us to enter the warehouse on a purchase requisition for procurement categories. To set this up, go to Product information management/Setup/Dimension groups/Storage dimension groups.

Once this is set up, the warehouse field will be able to be populated when doing a purchase requisition for a procurement category.
