How to Connect Azure Storage Explorer to OneLake
While dealing with a recent customer issue, our team was able to access the storage container for understanding metadata with Export to Data Lake (E2DL) or Azure Synapse Analytics.
Why Connect Azure Storage Explorer to OneLake?
A benefit of this integration is enhanced accessibility. Connecting Azure Storage Explorer to OneLake lets you browse and manage data lake contents directly from Azure Storage Explorer. You can easily upload, download, and move files between locations, making data management more streamlined.
The integration supports operations like copying data across different locations, which can save time and reduce complexity. You are likely already familiar with having access to the storage account container in Azure if you have used E2DL - a service exclusive to Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management - or Azure Synapse Link.
Here is a quick guide on how to access files and tables stored in OneLake by connecting it to Azure Storage Explorer:
- Start by pulling up your lakehouse in Microsoft Fabric. You will need to find the URL.
- Pinpoint two GUID values in the URL.
- In Azure Storage Explorer, go to Connections and then ADLS Gen2 container or directory.
- Sign in using OAuth.
- Name the connection - The URL consists of https://onelake.dfs.fabric.microsoft.com/ + GUID to your Fabric tenant +"/" + GUID to your lakehouse.
- Summary of connection information. Click connect.
- You will now have access to the files and tables available in your lakehouse.
