Compare Your Favorite Stats with March Madness Power BI Dashboard
March Madness is my favorite time of year (after Christmas of course). Last year my team, the Tar Heels, won the championship. I was thinking it would be great if I could have one place that had all my relevant basketball statistics, not just for my team but the rest of the teams in the tournament. What if I created a March Madness Power BI Dashboard? And so I did. I designed a dashboard in Power BI that lists the 68 teams that are in the NCAA tournament, their statistics, and how they compare against each other.
The “Summary” tab has the four core statistics broken out by region and team:
- Effective Goal %
- Free Throw %
- Turnover %,
- Offensive Rebound %
If you click on a team, you’ll see some advanced statistics on top of the page for that team. The “Team Details” tab allows you to pick your teams and a measure to compare each team against.
Finally, “Tournament Statistics” contains information on the teams with the most overall wins and teams that have won the most NCAA championships. I’ll continue to refine the charts and add more content as time passes. Please feel free to look up your team and see how they match up against the rest of the teams and good luck! Go Heels!
