d365 finance release fall 2020

The October 2020 release wave 2 of Dynamics 365 Finance (10.0.13) is now available and includes new features across the system, including updates in accounts payable, collections, accounts receivable, general ledger, and more. Below are the top eight new features that we’re looking forward to the most in this release.

Core Financials

1. Cash flow forecast calculation – enhanced scheduling

You can now schedule the calculation of cash flow forecasts automatically. This ensures cash forecasts are generated at the best time for your company.

Fixed Assets

2. Asset Leasing

The system now ensures and calculates proper accounting standards for ASC 842 and IFRS 163. The new functionality automates complex lease calculations, helps classify the lease as operating or finance, short term, or low value. Additionally, it centralizes the management of lease information.

Accounts Payable

3. Vendor invoice automation – analytics and metrics

Identify where you can be more efficient and save money through valuable analytics and metrics. The vendor invoice entry workspace allows you to focus on vendor invoices and that didn’t make it through the automated process. Tiles indicate invoices that weren’t submitted to workflow, imported, or matched to receipts. Additionally, information is shown on the percentage of invoices that were processed automatically, reasons for invoice automation failure, and workflow analytics.

4. Vendor invoice automation – tracking invoice received date

A new field allows you to track the date the invoiced was received, for better insights on how long it takes to process an invoice.

5. Add date option for generating the accrued purchases excluding the sales tax report

Users have the option to select a date that affects the information that’s included on the accrued purchases excluding sales tax reports. This enables AP clerks to better reconcile and account for information for accrued purchases.

Collections

6. Automatic Collection Task Creation

Users can now define rules that automatically create collection tasks based on invoice attributes such as payment prediction, due dates, and amounts due.

Accounts Receivable

7. Touchless email reminders to customers

When enabled, email reminders will be sent automatically to customers, with a list containing overdue invoice information based on email templates.

Accounts Payable

8. Vendor details to bridged transactions and check forms

This update makes reconciliation more readily available by updating the bridged transactions page to display important information such as vendor name, number, address, and pay to information. Additionally, this updates the bank transactions page to display cleared date, updates the existing checks form to display vendor name, details, and whether the check has cleared and the cleared date.
