AX Support for Windows 2012

By Eric Newell | November 17, 2012

With the announcement of the release of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft released an updated system requirements document for AX 2012: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11094.  Windows 2012 Server is now supported, but only for the upcoming release of Dynamics AX 2012 R2 on December 1, 2012.

As you would imagine, IIS 8.0 is only supported for Dynamics AX 2012 R2 as well.  The Help Server and web services are supported on IIS 8.

I had a chance to install Windows 2012 to serve as my domain controller on my network.  I found it interesting (because I hadn't read this anywhere) that the default option for the operating system is to install it without a GUI interface.  I'm pretty new to PowerShell, so as much as I think it's cool, I didn't want to go down that road completely.  The interface for Windows 2012 is in the Windows 8 style but you still have to use 3 fingers (Ctrl+Alt+Del) to log in to the box.
