Dramatic Compilation Performance Improvements in Cumulative Update 7 for AX 2012

By Eric Newell | November 11, 2013

The Cumulative Updates for Dynamics AX 2012 have provided new functionality in addition to the bug fixes, and there's a big new feature in Dynamics AX 2012 R2 CU7 that I want to bring more attention to.  There is a new tool called AXBuild.exe which can achieve a full compile in Dynamics AX in less that 10% of the time it takes today.  That's a 90% performance improvement which can really help in the development and deployment of AX.

Please take a moment to read the following two articles:

As noted in my article about CU7, there's an upgrade to the DIEF tool which requires you to uninstall and reinstall DIEF, so make sure to factor that into any plans to make the leap to the new update.  If you haven't started development yet, by all means, you're going to want to take advantage of AXBuild and the new DIEF and start with CU7.
