Team License Permissions for D365 Customer Engagement Impacted by Microsoft Update

By Britt Pangerl | March 12, 2021

Microsoft has recently changed the permissions and enforced app access for their Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Team Member licenses. This update is gradually being rolled out to clients and your team member license users may unexpectedly lose access to your D365 Customer Engagement environment if you are impacted by this change.

Restrictions on Team License Permissions for D365 Customer Engagement

Moving forward, users who have Team Member licenses purchased during or after October 2018 will be restricted to a specific set of designated apps and will no longer be able to access the Customer Service Hub, Sales Hub, or custom apps. Team Member licenses are a low-cost option for clients with users who either need view-only rights or limited rights around maintaining the basic account and contact information. Team Member licenses enable users to view the information in the Dynamics Sales Team Member or Dynamics Customer Service Team Member specific apps to view data, see trends, monitor system information, update contacts and accounts, and track activities.

The grace period for this change ended on January 31, 2021.

You can read more about this change on Microsoft’s blog.
