Want to Leverage the AI-Power of Microsoft Copilot in Your ERP System? Make the Move to the Cloud
With advancements in AI getting all the buzz right now, Microsoft is introducing a ton of new AI-powered capabilities with the launch of Microsoft Copilot.
Microsoft Copilot is a new AI-powered solution that will soon be available on all Microsoft Cloud-based solutions to increase automation in a variety of areas in your business so your employees can stay focused on the tasks that are most important to their jobs. It also integrates with the apps you use to run your business and can increase productivity in everyday Microsoft apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and more.
Upgrading to the Cloud Enhances Automation Throughout Your Entire Organization with Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft has announced the general availability for Copilot is November 1, 2023. These new capabilities are driven by the cloud-hosted large language model meaning that you will need to be on a cloud-based solution to take advantage of it, like:
- Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement
- Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations
- Power Platform
- Microsoft 365
- Windows 11
If you have any of these licenses you can use Copilot in that solution. If you are running an on-premise solution like Dynamics GP but have Microsoft 365 licenses for apps like Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, and more, you can use Copilot in those apps but not in your Dynamics GP environment. The only way you can run Microsoft Copilot in your ERP system is if it is part of the Dynamics 365 suite of solutions.
Ideally, your entire system would be cloud-connected and able to utilize Copilot. We have written about the benefits of moving to the cloud before by either upgrading to Dynamics 365 or hosting your current solutions in Azure:
- Moving to Dynamics 365 Business Central or hosting Dynamics GP or NAV in Azure
- Hosting Dynamics AX in Azure or Upgrading to Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations
Adding a full suite of AI capabilities to your organization is ideal, as it will help save you time and money in all parts of your organization.
