Dynamics 365 Warehouse Power BI Aligns Your Business with the New Definition of Supply Chain Management
Recently, I read a blog post on the Supply Chain Review website, “The view from APICS 2017,” by Bob Trebilcock. In it, he talks about what supply chain management really means today. It has changed from being focused on finding the lowest cost ways to get products out the door, into delighting and enabling your customers, while moving your business forward. This got me thinking about how Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations can help organizations accomplish this.
The Warehouse performance Power BI content available in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations for Shipping performance can be used in an organization’s effort to delight customers. The information can give businesses insights that can help identify shipping issues that involve products, sites, warehouses, or customer groups.
Here’s an example of the Shipping performance Power BI content:
Shipments over time can show you how many sales lines have shipped early, on time, and late.
Shipped late by city is a heat map that shows specific cities where your organization has the most late deliveries. This view can help organizations start looking into other issues such as shipping carrier performance.
Other Shipped early, Shipped on time, Shipped late views are available for Shipped by product, Shipped by customer, and Shipped by site/warehouse.
The Warehouse performance Power BI content available in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations for Inbound performance and Location inventory accuracy can be used to help “move the business forward” and help your organization align better to the new definition of supply chain management.
Here’s an example of the Inbound performance Power BI content:
The content can give organizations insights into shipments received early, received on time and received late from Vendors. It can also measure the productivity of the teams in the distribution centers, calculating average put away dock to stock, by worker, by vendor or by product. With further investigation, the business can find out if additional training is needed by specific individuals, if a vendor’s packaging for shipments is slowing the warehouse team down, if there’s an issue with the warehouse layout/locations or if there are equipment challenges during put away.
The Warehouse performance Power BI content available in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations for Location inventory accuracy content can give organizations insights into counting performance and inventory accuracy for items and locations. Inventory on hand and its accuracy play a critical role in shipments being picked and shipped on time.
Here’s an example of the Location inventory accuracy Power BI content:
Some of the KPI’s used in this content are: Items counted over time (Without discrepancy, With discrepancy), Item quantity discrepancy greater than a specific %, Item count by worker (Without discrepancy, With discrepancy), Item count by site/warehouse (Without discrepancy, With discrepancy), and Discrepancy rate by product.
Keep in mind, it is possible to create your own warehouse performance reports using Power BI and Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.
