By Shelby Spillar | April 7, 2022

Welcome back for Part 3 of this Dynamics 365 Business Central Contact Management series. In this post, we will look at the Marketing setup. Parts 1 and 2 focused on Contacts and Contact Cards.

Several settings related to Contact management are found on the Marketing Setup page. To access the Marketing Setup page, use the magnifying glass icon to search for Marketing Setup.

Dynamics 365 Business Central Contact Management: Inheritance

The Inheritance section determines what data will be inherited by a Person Contact from the parent Company Contact when a new Person Contact is created. Note: this only applies when a Person Contact is associated with a Company Contact.

Dynamics 365 Business Central Contact Management: Defaults

The Defaults section specifies data that will be automatically assigned to all Contacts when they are created. Note: this data will be overwritten by Inheritance data, if applicable.

Dynamics 365 Business Central Contact Management: Interactions

The Interactions section contains the setup fields for Business Relation Codes. If a value is populated for the Customers or Vendors fields, a Company Contact will be automatically created when a new Customer or Vendor is created. These Contacts will be linked to the Customer/Vendor using the Business Relation Code.
