Microsoft Announces Business Central Fall Release

By Natalie Lemke | October 3, 2018

Microsoft has officially announced a successor to Dynamics NAV, morphing the long-running brand into Dynamics 365 Business Central. With Business Central everywhere, current NAV clients have the option to shift their software to meet their needs - whether that be remaining fully on-premise, moving to the cloud, or in a hybrid deployment.

Releases of Business Central on-premise & an updated release of Business Central multi-tenant hosted solutions will be released in October.

Following this release, Microsoft is working to release enhancedupgrade tools for customers currently using NAV on premise.  Existing Business Central users can expect a variety of new benefits and features in the October release, including a more productive and refreshed user interface. New employee onboarding will be easier, with a shorter learning curve, and users will have access to AI-powered insights and data analytics.

Additionally, the Dynamics 365 Business Central universal app will be available and can connect to any deployment of Business Central and is available for Android, iOS, and Windows 10 devices.

The hybrid deployment of Business Central will allow clients to run their workload on-premise while also replicating the data to a tenant in the cloud. This connection will make transitioning fully to the cloud an easier step.

Clients with customizations built into their software will not be able to immediately connect their data to the cloud. Work with the team at Stoneridge Software to discover your options for becoming cloud-enabled.
