D365 Business Central – Where Have the G/L Registers Gone?

By Chris Carrigee | February 28, 2020

If you came to the Business Central world from the Dynamics NAV or Navision space, you may know how useful the G/L Registers screen is.

The G/L Register screen lets you see all General Ledger entries including date, who posted it, type of journal, etc. and it lets you navigate to said journal entries, but, most importantly, it lets you reverse any journal entries with a single click. Please note that this creates reversing entries, but does not delete entries. Journals are immutable, once posted, you cannot “unpost” or delete.

But, in Business Central (or BC for short), if you search for G/L Registers, you will come up only with the reports that print said registers. And since BC doesn’t have the Departments screen from where you could navigate to all the NAV areas, it can be a little tricky to find.

So, if you want to see the G/L Registers screen, here’s how you get to it:

  1. Navigate to the Chart of Accounts
  2. Click on Process
  3. Click on G/L Register
  4. From there you can access all the old functionality
