Protect Your Data with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations

By Ron Rud | March 7, 2019

One of the top reasons that corporations consider upgrading from Dynamics AX to Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is data security. More frequently than ever, we see companies suffer major data breaches when their information is located on personal servers. According to the Ponemon Institute’s “2017 Cost of Data Breach Study: Global Overview,” the odds of a data breach are as high as 1 in 4.

In fact, the study found that 27.7 percent of the companies involved in the study would have a security breach within the next year. These breaches come with an average cost ranging from $1.9 million for incidents with less than 10,000 compromised records to $6.3 million for incidents with more than 50,000 compromised records.

Because of the serious business risks associated with a data breach, corporations are moving their ERP software to the cloud to alleviate security issues and transfer the compliancy issues from their internal IT department to Microsoft. Microsoft maintains the entire infrastructure of their cloud offering, freeing up hardware funds and IT personnel at the corporate level. Additionally, Microsoft takes care of all intrusion detection, threat management, security monitoring, and completes penetration testing.

Microsoft has over 3,500 dedicated cybersecurity professionals on staff to help protect, detect, and respond to any and all threats. Using AI and advanced analytics, they are able to monitor threat intelligence and secure your data around the cloud. Microsoft’s security website and blog offers insights into the technical expertise of their security team and how they utilize the most advanced technology to monitor for breaches.

To find out if Dynamics 365 is in compliance with national, regional, and industry-specific requirements that affect your business, visit the Microsoft Trust Center.

There is no in-house IT team with the dedicated resources to protect your servers and data compared to the team at Microsoft. Your data will be safe and secured after you upgrade from Dynamics AX to Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.
