Simplify Management of Word Document Templates with the Power Platform
For those in an organization who manage Word Document Templates in Dynamics 365 Power Apps environments, you should be aware of a couple of tools.
These tools, provided in the XRMToolBox, help simplify the multifaceted tasks of managing Word Document Templates in Dynamics 365 Power Apps. These tools are:
- Document Templates Mover
- Document Template Manager
Let's take a look at each tool and how they can help you simplify this process.
Document Templates Mover
This tool allows you to copy Word Document templates between environments. It automatically relinks the related tables schema to the target environment. Just follow these steps:
- Run XRMToolBox
- Open the Document Templates Mover tool
- Connect to the source environment
- Click Load Templates
- Select the target environment
- Select the desired template in the source list
- Click Transfer template(s)
- Look for the Success message in the Log window
Document Template Manager
This tool provides multiple actions that can be used to simplify the management of Word Document templates (and Excel templates). At a minimum, it is a convenient way to activate or inactivate templates as needed, but that is only the beginning of what it can do for you!
